Scorpio Season

Scorpio season began this morning at 7:22am. The Sun joins Venus, Mercury and Jupiter in this intense, witch-y sign of the zodiac. Scorpio holds a lot of power and can be terrifying to some people. This water sign feels everything on a scale of 1 to 1000 and has excellent powers of perception and intuition. Scorpio is adept at sussing out the real motives behind our actions and has an immaculate bullshit detector. As the saying goes, you can't bullshit a bullshitter. Scorpio can keep secrets as they are very selective about who they share themselves with. Scorpio is ruled by Pluto in current astrology and was ruled by Mars before Pluto was discovered. Overall Scorpio rules death, rebirth, transformation, the occult, secrets, motives, shamanism, metaphysics, taxes, inheritance and your significant other's money. Scorpio is a fixed sign - meaning that it can be extremely determined, tough, stubborn and resilient. Scorpio relies on its tremendous inner strength to make its way through the world.

Just after Scorpio season begins we have a Full Moon in Taurus tomorrow - Wednesday October 24th at 12:45pm EDT. This Full Moon is closely conjunct Uranus - at 1 and 0 degrees Taurus, respectively. Uranus is currently retrograde through January 6th. Over the last few months as Uranus traveled backwards through Taurus, financial themes floated to the surface. Most likely this has been an internal theme for you - reviewing your finances, your budget, your overall relationship to money. Retrograde planets turn the theme inward so the focus is on the personal as opposed to the collective. Taurus is the zodiac sign that rules wealth and finances. In general Taurus oversees the physical realm - money, furniture, all material possessions, self-esteem and self-worth. Earth sign Taurus is highly practical and is no stranger to hard work. The strength of Taurus is made manifest through the physical while its opposite - Scorpio - demonstrates its strength of character, attitude and mindset. These two signs opposite each other form a formidable pair.

Sometimes folks fear this Full Moon as it can be one of the more intense lunations of the season. Personally I love this Full Moon. The moon (ruled by Cancer) is exalted in Taurus. A planet is exalted when it transits a sign that pairs well with the sign it rules. In this case the Moon-ruled Cancer works really well with Taurus as both signs prioritize comfort, security, #hygge, home and hearth. They are two peas in a pod. The moon likes to be in Taurus. As you gaze up at her tonight and tomorrow you might say a prayer of thanks. Taurus also represents abundance being ruled by Venus. The Taurus Full Moon is a great time to make a gratitude list - to write down all of the financial, physical and tangible blessings in your life. The Sun in Scorpio invites us to look deeper and find the spiritual lesson in every situation. You might write down on the other side of the paper intangible items that you are grateful for to balance out the physical and metaphysical realms. A book that blends these two topics together well is called The Energy of Money by Maria Nemeth. You might add that to your reading wish list (I know everyone is busy!) Taurus reminds us of the benefits of having both feet firmly planted on the ground while Scorpio reminds us to look up at the clouds. Happy Scorpio Season and blessings on this almost Full Moon!
